An independent East Coast Chameleons guide

This website is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the “Chameleon Care for Beginners” Facebook groups. A similar name does not imply a shared organization, moderation team or care policy.

References to an author, business or organization do not imply their endorsement of this guide. No endorsement by Chameleon Academy, Bill Strand or Dragon Strand is claimed.

Five kinds of information, clearly labeled

  • Measured: an observation with its timestamp, instrument or source, and conditions.
  • Calculated: a result derived from measurements, with the formula and assumptions disclosed.
  • Published: a claim attributed to a specific source, with its limits.
  • Keeper observation: a dated account that has not automatically established cause and effect.
  • Open question: a point awaiting records or confirmation.

Changing a variable does not by itself make a test more accurate. Comparisons need the actual protocol, matched conditions, calibrated instruments and results.

Credit and permission travel together

Explanations use original language and link claims to their sources. The species picker uses individually licensed photographs with creator credit and license links. Those photographs illustrate the named species; they are not available-stock photographs, a visual identification test or endorsements by their creators.

No Chameleon Academy images are used. Frank Payne’s and Patrick’s materials will only be added within permissions they actually grant. Credit alone is not a substitute for permission.

Original dates stay visible

Each new page records its creation and review dates. An older source retains its own date even when a new review is added. Corrections should describe what changed rather than making old material appear newly observed.

Private notes, correspondence and research source archives are kept outside the website. Only intentionally prepared educational content belongs here.

Created 26 September 2026. Reviewed 26 September 2026, America/New_York. Source publication dates are preserved separately above. This educational page has not received a completed veterinary review. Research-in-progress sections retain their stated limitations.
