Feeder keeping guide. These instructions concern the identified insects. They do not constitute a complete chameleon diet or a supplement schedule.

Check your location first

For Florida visitors, this planner uses crickets instead of dubia roaches (Blaptica dubia). FDACS lists dubia as restricted to permitted educational or zoological institutions. Ask your local breeder and the relevant agency about current requirements; a species appearing on this website is not permission to acquire it.

Keep the holding container simple

Dubia roaches are Blaptica dubia. Use a smooth-sided container, ventilated lid and egg flats for usable surface area. Keep the flats below the rim and provide food and a hydration source that does not trap insects.

Food and daily checks

The supplier’s holding guidance uses a formulated dubia diet with suitable vegetables as additions. Check food and hydration daily, remove spoiled material and record losses. Do not equate a container of poorly maintained feeders with a balanced food source.

Do not automatically add colony heat

Dubia.com distinguishes room-temperature holding from breeding. Establish your purpose and consult the relevant protocol before changing heat or moisture. A breeding target is not automatically a short-term storage requirement.
